Cycling adventure Laos to VietNam 12 Days – LuangPrabang to the Plain of Jars, SamNeua, ViengXai, NaMeo border, PuLuong , Hanoi.

Day 1: ARRIVING LUANG PRABANG (D)
Our guide will pick you up at the airport or train station, transfer to hotel. Welcome to LuangPrabang. Time for bicycle set up, test ride around and free at leisure. Dinner at a local restaurant in town.
Day 2: KUANG SI WATERFALLS (B,L,D)
We get up early for short ride to town for watching the alms giving ceremony. Then we ride to central market, have a glance at fresh vegetables at this busy market. We ride back to hotel for breakfast.
Then we start our ride to visit Kuang si waterfalls. Time for swim, relax and promenade around villages. Late afternoon we ride back to Luangprabang.

Day 3: LUANG PRABANG – PHOUKHOUN (B, L, D)
A challenge day, we head south of Luang Prabang and have some long climb up the mountains. Passing Hmong village at Kiewkacham. Overnight at Saynamkhoun or Sala Phoukhoun hotel.
Cycling distance ~ 135km.
Day 4: PHOUKHOUN – PHONSAVAN (B, L, D)
Another great day in the mountains from Phoukhoun to Phonsavan. Great descending 20km to NamChat river and up again to XiengKhoang province plateau. Overnight at Anoulackhenlao hotel.
Cycling distance ~ 140km.
Day 5: THE PLAIN OF JARS SITES (B, L, D)
A nice day cycling around the mysterious stone jars sites. There are three sites for visitting. The site 3 is far from town and need a 1,5km walk through the rice fields. Please bring your walking shoe for changing at the site.

Day 6: PHONSAVAN – NAM NEUN (B, L, D)
We cycle to Muang Kham, with a visit to a “bomb crater” village and Tham Piew cave where the 374 people killed in November 1968. Our van will pick us up for transfer to the summit elevation at +1525 m, then we will have about 60km rolling hills to NamNeun. Overnight at Nam Neun GH.

Day 7: NAM NEUN – SAM NEUA (B, L, D)
A big day up in the mountain again. The first stage out of NamNeun is 36km climb from 520 m to 1420 m, riding through the forest of Phou Louey national park. Our rewards is a Hmong village with bomb shells decoration along the main road. Second stage will be some down hills and up again to summit +1490 m above sea level. From this summit, we have about 42km rolling hills to SamNeua. Late afternoon, we will visit Wat Si Bun Hueang, walk down the stairs and see SamNeua view point.
Cycling distance ~ 98km.
Day 8: SAM NEUA – VIENG XAI (B, L, D) 30km
It’s a relaxing ride today to ViengXai. There is nice road winding along Nam Neua river, no hill. Please note an old bridge on left side of the road, approximate 20km outside Sam Neua. Afternoon rest in Viengxai or we can walk to visit the historical caves in ViengXai. Dinner and overnight in ViengXai.
Day 9: VIENG XAI – NAMEO BORDER – QUANSON (B, L, D) 58km
A challenge day riding over the border. First stage will be 58km from Viengxai to NaMeo border. Goodbye Laos. Enter Vietnam and we have nice ride 53km to QuanSon. The road is small, but good paved and gently down hill. Dinner and overnight at KhachSan MienTay hotel.
Day 10: QUANSON – PULUONG RETREAT (B, L, D)
First stage 45km from QuanSon to CanhNang town is easy. The scenery is nice with winding road along the river. After a short break at LaHan bridge, we will ride up the mountain again to PuLuong nature reserva area. Overnight at luxury PuLuong retreat.
Total cycling ~ 62km.
Day 11: REST DAY – WALK AROUND PULUONG (B)
Rest day for foot or body massage. Walk around, enjoy the bautiful landscape of the rice terraces around the Don village.
Day 12: PULUONG – HANOI (B, L, D)
