Cycling Luangprabang to Pak Ou cave – One day bike trip.
Start at 8:30 am from your hotel, we have a quick ride in quiet Luangprabang, passing city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat XiengThong. We head north of city, cycling over Old French steel bridge and head north along the Mekong. We visit a silk weaving and mulberry paper making villages.
We keep on cycling about 20km to Manolak market, and a Lao whisky making village, an elephant farm. Then we cycle to Pak Ou village.
We board on a fishing boat, cross the mekong river to explore the Buddha cave. The cave was crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. There are some steps walking up lower and upper cave that you may switch to your walking shoes.
Lunch break at a riverside restaurant.
In the afternoon, we cycle on the dirt road about 9km along Nam Ou river to see two more villages. Back to the main road at Ban Koklin, we ride back to Luangprabang.
